Join the Smyrna Pride Board of Directors
We are currently seeking passionate, committed leaders to serve on our Board of Directors. Ideal candidates are community minded, equality-driven, and eager to use their skills to create a positive environment in the LGBTQ+ community here in Smyrna. Candidates can either be LGBTQ+ or an ally, living in the Smyrna area. This is a volunteer position and board terms are for 2 years, with an average commitment of 2-6 hours each month. Board meetings are typically held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month.

Cultivates partnerships and secures sponsorships, donations, and event support to sustain and grow Smyrna Pride festival & associated events throughout the year.

Develop sponsorship opportunities, fundraising events, and donor campaigns.

Lead efforts to secure Smyrna Pride event sponsorships, including outreach, proposal creation, and follow up.

Ensure timely recognition and stewardship of sponsors and donors.

Attend monthly board meetings

Dedicate time outside of meetings to outreach and grow relationships with sponsors, approximately 2-6 hours each month (January – May will require more time as this is our most critical planning timeframe)

Ideal skills and qualities to include strong communication and networking skills, comfort with asking for financial support, passion and willingness to advocate for Smyrna Pride.

Community Engagement & Events
Strengthens connections within the local LGBTQ+ allies community by leading outreach efforts, building partnerships, and organizing inclusive events that celebrate and support Smyrna Pride’s mission.

Lead planning and execution of events outside of Pride Festival (fundraiser, community clean up, dinner/trivia meet ups, etc.)

Gather community feedback and bring insights to the board to strengthen programming and engagement for Smyrna Pride.

Collaborate with Sponsorship & Fundraising to integrate donor/sponsor opportunities into events.

Attend monthly board meetings

Dedicate time outside of meetings to plan events throughout the year, approximately 2-6 hours each month (October – April most critical time)

Ideal skills and qualities to include love for event planning, strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with community members and partners, reliable in planning and coordination and delivering on commitments.
